Ray Brookes is (among others) a formidable harmonicist,( listen in original song his "melanie bar"...)
I had asked him what kind of harmonica he used for the blues and I think he had answered me "Lee Oskar" (I'm not sure I can't find his message!)
)
and so as I have one, I thought I should try to learn a bit more about harmonica and this song "Knocking on heaven's door" offers a good support in G (my Lee Oskar is in C)

As always I looked in the archives and listened to the versions of this song,...there are 3 of them in the 2010s
..but there was no "reggae" version like Clapton, so here it is

it has been a while since checking songcrafters ~~~ enjoying your arrangement ~ for a bit there thought you were going to intertwine harmonica with the leads, perhaps ver 2? cheers from my side

This is really really good JP ! I've been a fan of reggae since being ateenager and you've definitely got an authentic reggae groove going here with the one-drop beat, guitar on the 2nd and 4th beat, nice percussive fills and a lovely reggae guitar solo. Jah no !

A cool choice to do this song in Reggae style JP because it works so well in this genre, who would have thought that?
Everything sounds tight and the harmonica adds a fresh counter to the Reggae beat, nicely done!

This is fantastic, JP. Love the sound of that harmonica (yes I use Lee Oscar harmonicas) and the reggae beat along with that nice guitar work make this an excellent track. Vocal too is very good.

Now more importantly - are France going to win the FIFA world cup? Australian team already on their way home.

hanks guys for your comments

It's true that I was strongly inspired by the live Reggae version of Clapton that you can find on you tube
[Now more importantly - are France going to win the FIFA world cup? Australian team already on their way home.

Ah ah ah, are you interested in soccer Ray? yes I watched yesterday the two games that defined France (against Poland) and England (against Senegal) ... so the next game France England will be hot, hot, hot ... good luck English friends (but I hope that France will win)

To come back to the music, yes it's a Lee Oscar harmonica that I bought after your answer and it's true that on this harmonica the bend are easier to do :)

The harmonica is well played, and is a really tasteful addition to this song – reminiscent of Stevie Wonder.

The band I'm in supposedly plays this song. We put it on a playlist for a gig earlier this year, but we never rehearsed it. How hard could it be? I turns out that everyone independently practiced a different version:

The Clapton reggae version: |G---|D---|C---|

The Dylan rock-ballad version: |G---|D---|Am---|G---|D---|C---|

The Guns n' Roses rock-power-ballad version: |Gb---|Db---|Abm---|Gb---|Db---|B---|

And our de-facto band leader insists there is a Bm chord in there (even though there isn't):
|G---|Bm---|Am---|G---|D---|C---|

So there is no version of the song found in nature to which we can practice independently. After pulling my hair out, I put together this groove sample and sent it by email, trying to get everyone on the same page. (Spoiler: Nobody paid any attention.)
