I work better on spontaneity.  Even though I have been pondering a story based on inspiration from Ted and Zoltan (yeah), the music started today after getting home from a lovely Sunday lunch with me lady and our son.
But I was itchin to bang on those drums!  No one else home just then so away I went.  I found a cool groove on the toms and the kick, then morphed it to the snare/HH and kick...
then I added a crazy wah tone distorted bass (Shecter Omen), my strat copy , and a vocal track...

The drums are very loud in the mix...kind of intended.  Alot of this is me working on playing acoustic drums.  I found some really nice stuff down in here...

The story is about an Eeel who meets a lovely starfish queen mother.  She takes pity on his blase look and story less life and electrifies him with the ability to pass it on to other eels.
She got her power from the universal light that shone through her.  But the eel was kind of sinister and he misused his new electric power (told in another chapter)..

Check Test Check Test.  Calling all eels.  Calling all eels.  Come and get your wheels.  Calling all eels.  Calling all eels.  Mother Starfish is gonna eelectrify you.  Eelectrify you.  Eeelectrify you.  Henceforth you shall not be the same but ee lectricity shall run through your veins.  Come and bow before Mother Starfish and receive your power, whereby you shall devour.

I don't where you pulled this song from but it is a different style for you. Well maybe not that different because it has your creativity all over it. The fuzzed wah bass sounds cool as it grunts along like a bull walrus. Good drumming and the guitar work that lurks beneath the waves. A cool picture, vocals and story of the eel and the starfish!

Super cool! I started listening, and was loving the groove on the toms. Then I remembered, Wait! Stephen is a noob on drums. How!?

I love your spontaneous streak. I can't seem to do it. Working in on it. My wife complains that I don't get enough sleep when I stay up late working on music. I'd feel more justified if I had more to show for it.

You're my hero. Today, anyway.

That's the first thing I though as well. Blimey...

Great groove. I dig the spontaneity of it. You are in fine voice here as well.

In fairness to you Ted and to Blooby I have been banging on stuff my whole life...lol...that doesn't exactly make one a drummer however... I never thought I would switch to acoustic drums.  Electronic are so easy to make sound changes etc... but after several years of doing that (2 years) I decided, with some prompting from some SC friends to get a crazy drum set... literally this thing says "First Act"... I think they sell them at wal mart... doesn't sound too bad though .... I probably overpaid for these at a 100 bucks... crazy right?  There were other drums with them... One thing is certain, it is much harder to record with the acoustic kit.  It's hard to hear the music I am playing too without blowing out my already shot ear drums... and I have to wear headphones because otherwise there would be bleedthrough on the mics.
One other quick thing, I didn't have a real big trouble with the drum sticks (although there is much work needed there as well) as much as getting my feet to do right on the kick and HH... takes practice and it is exercise... fits my crazy personality though... I should have done this years ago but no regrets... I am happy for today!

thanks for the great comments everyone... and I do think the drums send me into a frenzy on the singing and lyrics...

Wow Stephen!  This is wild, crazy stuff - exactly the sort of stuff I like.  But stop calling me an eel - even if I am...

I love the guitar coming back in at the end - just when I thought I was safe!

This has a very musical theatre style to it, experiential feeling and dramatic, was hoping for a longer version, i liked that phasing part near the end, would be good for a breakdown.
