A bit more grittier take on the classic Neil Diamond song. I just kept on piling different ideas until i got bored...

well, I like all your piled on ideas.... glad it took at least a little while to get bored... wicked good mix...

ooooooohhhh that guitar or keyboard add is such a delight.  This rocks along... what would be cool is to open for said artist...then play this version of this song... as the song builds and builds Neil comes onto the stage , was mad at first then he got thinking how great this was and wanted in on the fun...next thing you know Zoltan and Neil are best friends and touring all over the planet together.

I've always liked this Neil Diamond hit. Your voice is a great fit for it. The layering and piling on adds a coolness to the song. I like it!
Have you ever heard Chris Isaak's version? If you geta chance check it out. It's another good one version.

excellent Zoltan, how do you make the drums ?
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Well the piled on version with guitar and subtle horns in the background I like this better than the original very good brother your vocals are outstanding on this

Sorry for the bump, but it's the only way to answer...

I'm usually using Jamstix 4 for the midi and then some ugritone drum libraries for the sounds. In this case i was lazy and started with a 4 bar drum loop. Then i added the proper drum track on top of it.

The original drum loop can be heard on its own at the end of the song (the programmed drums end a bit earlier).

I usually start with great sounding drum samples that i then compress, saturate and mangle to pieces with EQ :D

Love this song and your interpretation of it is cool.  As usual your playing and production are top notch - great instrument sounds and very clear mix.  Neil really should have used more distortion on his guitars  ;D

Love me some Neil. For our small town fireworks display, they started blasting "America." It couldn't have been a bigger slice of Apple Pie. Makes me crack up just thinking about it (After John Phillips Souza, I kept waiting for Night Ranger, but alas...).

Great version! You rocked it up in all the right places, and I agree that your voice is a nice fit for this. One question... Was your shirt sequined during your vocal performance?

Cool post.

Great cover, Zoltan. Neil Diamond's Sixties / early Seventies songs are my faves of his. I'm glad you stuck with it and posted it up!

Not sorry for the bump.  That was a dance move, the bump.  It was taken from watching hockey players perform a hip check on opponents.  I think it was a precursor to some more grinding dirty dancing....
Whatever this song rocks.... you smoked it.... i got a contact high from the exhalation
