QuoteAlso, you asked me what harmonica I use. I always use Lee Oscar harmonicas as I find them the best for playing blues.

thank you Ray for the Answer I will soon start learning harmonica tutorials again (there are plenty on YT)
I'm going to continue learning Whistle, I really like the sound of those little (and big) whistles

I love to learn a new instrument, my dream would be to acquire a baroque lute ..and an indian sitar but my wife says that's enough, I have no more space in my attic ;D

There is a line that I love in an old 1938 movie by Marcel Pagnol "Le Sch
pountz", with Fernandel and Fernand Charpin who says "...no you are not good at anything, you are bad at everything".

A story about the magic sound of low whistle. I was lucky to spend some days here in Palermo with Paddy Keenan, it was summer 2001. Paddy (one of the best low whistle players in the world) played for me and a bunch of friends this haunting melody at the low whistle:

It's called Johnny's Tune. Johnny was Paddy's brother, and died in 2000. Paddy told me this one was the tune who Johnny asked Paddy to play while he was passing away.

QuoteA story about the magic sound of low whistle.

a little technical note for friend Alfredo and for those of you who are interested in whistle

yes indeed the magic of the sound of the low whistle (as of the tin whistle by the way) are the ornaments and on the video with your friend, we see at least 2 of them: the slide which consists in passing from a note to a neighboring one by a glissando caused by the progressive opening of the hole by a slide of the ow on this one it is characteristic of the Whistle, as well as "finguer vibrato" which sounds to add a vibrato on a note not by the breath but by a fast obturation of a hole lower than the note difficult to explain but well made here on this video

..it's the same for the diatonic blues harmonica which would not be what it is without the alterations; "bend, overnote palm vibrato tongue blocking ..." isn't it Ray ...but that's another story ;D
