Thanks for the feedback everybody. I was listening to my youtube video on a TV yesterday and suddenly felt it sounded like I had too much reverb on the vocals.  I had mixed the sound the same way as I did the "studio" version, using a reverb which sounds more like "hall" or large room, but the video shows me standing in a small room, so I thought the reverb sounded unnatural with the video.  So I changed it to "tight reverb" (in the CLA vocals plugin I used) and tweaked some other aspects of the mix.

And you are right, with practice and experience, your success rate will definite go up higher rate.
