Writing a tune, here is my method:

I strum my guitar and sometimes create/invent chords (afterwards I check which are their names;-))  ). When I create a new melody for guitar and singing, I use MBR as a notebook. Without doing that way, it is easy to forget melody, though I'd remember the chords.

At first comes a melody and then I write the lyrics that suits to the mood of a song.

I haven't used much the rhythm in MBR, because the most of my songs are acoustic ballads. But, nowadays I record all of them by using methronome (ptn 314) and playing them on the certain tempo. Just in case if I want to make a rhytyhm backround later on.

This is a good thread. Must study more and utilize the tips from the others...
