Yes I could also feel a bit of Syd Barrett spirit here. Really enjoyable song, good work!

Thanks again for the comments. The Syd Barrett comments were interesting. I went and listened to his stuff for the first time ever. I did find one song, in 3/4 time, played on an acoustic guitar, with off-key singing. I figure that must be what y'all mean.

There's a strong possibility that I will re-record the vocals here. They sure felt right when I sang them. Only did one take, and was like, Yes! That'll do! Now I find them painful to hear. I will try the trick where you autotune the shit out of your own vocal track, and they re-record the vocals singing along with your autotuned self in the headphones.

But first I have another 3/4 song I want to finish by the end of the fest.

Great story in the lyrics.

Your vocal sounds great on this, Ted. It's your song, but personally, I wouldn't change a thing. I think the Syd Barrett comparison is probably more conceptual rather than literal. The interesting turns of phrase and how the lyrics fit compared to the time signature are a bit Syd-like, for instance.

Also, I love when those strings come in.

Well done!

I'm an entirely post-Barrett consumer of Pink Floyd. Could you drop a link to something that would help me get this comparison? I've been poking around on YouTube, and there's lots of Syd Barrett stuff, but nothing I've found by random sampling is reminiscent of this song. Or is it more of a thematic thing?

I was thinking of tracks like Octopus and Terrapin. Just something about the style and delivery and yes, the sort of themes he sang about. Particularly when with Pink Floyd. 'I've got a bike' for instance.

Where i was when this one was unleashed? Why didn't i get the memo? This is great. This is to my liking. This is in my wheelbarrow. Damn Ted! You're clearly more than the drummer for the Dead Kennedys!

Great production, performances and quirky songwriting. This is just too good!

Syd Barrett mentioned, but I can hear The Might Be Giants vibes, too.

Just a fantastic track where's nice contrast between beautiful composition and "not so conventional" lyrics (I like them). At around 2:10 spot the strings are icing on the cake.

And the production is pure professional - you're MBR vizard, Ted!
