To Illuminate The Sky
written & performed by Hook
The sky so black
I wonder why
The Stars refuse to shine
Have they been swallowed by time

Stuck in a loop until they find
A true reason to Illuminate the sky

The sky so dark
A deep kind of emptiness
A deceptive nothingness
that seems to nurture lonliness

And robs one of their individual
consciousness

The absence of light
No perception or sight
Uneasiness wrapped tight
around this desolate night

And no matter which way we head
the direction isn't right

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Cool emotive and melancholic song. The instrumentation, even when a little discordant works perfectly.

Love the arrangement (reminds me a bit of Nick Drake with the cello and flutes), but it's all you. Really quite adventurous when the muted trumpet kicks in. Of course perfectly great Hook lyrics and vocals.

Hope your back is doing better.

A sad but beautiful song. The 3/4 time signature works great with your melody and words. Back pain is one of the worst pains to have. I hope it subsides soon for you. Well done here Hook!

So cool.  Vocal delivery is magnificent and the edgy trumpet adds spice and mystery.
