"la pluie fait des claquettes" is a tribute song by Claude Nouga to Gene Kelly and the movie "I'm singing in the rain

"I love the rain passionately. It brings me a kind of calm. I love walking in the rain, I love the sound of the rain on the windows, on the roofs," Claude Nougaro confided in an interview in 1963. In La pluie fait des claquettes, we find another of the author's favourite subjects: the cinema. Indeed, how can we fail to see in it a tribute to Gene Kelly and the legendary sequence from the film Singin' in the Rain (1952) that the American actor and tap dancer co-directed with Stanley Donen? Another reference, this one explicit, to the actress Marlene Dietrich - and to Jean Cocteau's quote about her, for whom this "name [...] begins with a caress and ends with a whip".
