Here's a yesterdays quick ruff from the guitar & whining sessions. I was thinking of doing a metal version of Heroes :D But when i added the vocals it didn't sound that metal anymore...

I'm hoping to find time to do this properly, but as it stands, and especially today after hearing it back it works as an experiment on how brain works. There are two rhythm guitars (Telecaster into Carcosa FUZZ, in drop-D tuning) and one lead guitar. I'm familiar with the song, but i've never thought it in detail. I was kinda riffing "in the vein" of Heroes with the lead guitar, but today i heard the proper one and ... it's QUITE different :D

It was still fun trying to make it have that vibe. I played Carcosa into Delay and toyed around with the volume and delay in real time. So there's a bit movement in that part like in the original.

The drums in this demo are a bit too much, and from hearing the original i noticed that the studio version the kick drum is buried and the overall mix (in youtube) is quite dense and borderline stuffed.

I did remember some parts of the vocal melody and others were a haze. Anyway here's this version for those who might be interested in hearing it.

Perhaps the drums might be a little less - uh - busy in places, but overall what a great version. Your vocals and delivery are perfect for the song.

Hi Zoltan,
The vocals can actually come up in the mix, it is a bit on the low side.
Very warm and lovely vocals.
The guitar is always really good.
Definitely not metal, and more towards rock.  Love this recording.

I really like the voice and the guitars in your version

Something that will interest you: I didn't know this song at all and yet I made an instrumental cover with my lap steel, based on an arrangement by Luke Cirus Goetze

the lap steel is in Open D and the guitar is in DADGAD

I took the opportunity to reload the video on You Tube (my channel had been closed for pornographic piracy >:(
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I agree with Rene... vocals could be a bit higher... i love the guitar sounds and the driving beat.  Im glad DB could write this for you to sing..
Diggin the lead... drums drive it good... sure, they can be better, as could anything.

I like it. It sounds fun. The vocals are great, I knew this track would suit you before pressing play and they do. I like the extra bit of chaos you added with the drums. Yeah man :)
