Jazzy & Bluesy.  Experimental brass arrangement.  Hope you like. ;)

In my urge to act a man
I have done you wrong
In the hope you'll understand
I offer you this song
Maybe you will come to like it
but maybe I'm wasting my time
But either way I need to ask it
just to ease my mind
Can you see your way on back to me?

The world has not been kind to me now
but this is no excuse
I know some things I've done before
have made you so confused
But I hold out my heart on my sleve
I'm asking you please not to leave
Cos without you here my soul is locked out
and only you have the key.
Can you see your way on back to me?

I realize it's not easy
to forgive a bungling fool
'Specially since I've acting
in a way not logical
I'm the first to call me crazy
You're the first to call me fool
but neither of us can be lonely
and I've been so cruel

I've given all I can to you now
I've said all of my peace
All that's left is for you to forgive me
and give my heart release
Time can be a lonely partner
Nobody knows better than you
I've learned my lesson once and for all
and I'll be so kind to you
Can you see your way on back to me?

Hi John,
Very melodic, and very playful.
I love the joyful plea for the path back home!
You have a very nice way around notes, which is very lovely and exciting.
Very well done.
I love this composition.

Jazzy...indeed.... Loving that Steelyish piano a large amount.  Yes...it's great coupled with the bass..horns drive this toward Chicago...and then it goes back on course.... The music is so good took me a bit to get to your great vocals...
The thing is busy, fun, and quite interesting!!!
Super!!!

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

Zoltan

The playing in this song is quite playful.

What i really like in your compositions is that you're doing complicated stuff, but you're able to do them in a manner that keeps them approachable. With skills like yours it would be so easy to fall into that wormhole that only people who are more "educated" can appreciat. Kinda like the classical lead guitar player syndrome. Being the "players player".

There's so much good stuff happening with this one that it takes at least another listen to be able to appreciate the clever lyrics. Quality stuff and once again up to your high standards.

Another great composition, John. Love these jazz creations with those lovely chord changes and floating melodies. The musicianship is first class and the way your vocal handles those melodic phrases is stellar. Everything is so tastefully played and mixed. A true master of this genre.

It is jazzy and it is bluesy... but infused with that inescapable John B stamp of originality. Bags of creativity and like Zoltan mentions, with your playing skills you could easily write stuff that could go above a lot of peoples heads but you always keep it such an engaging listen. Yeah, it swings man!
