The original version of this song is from 1962, but Elvis made it famous. At least to me :) I was mostly thinking along the lines of the Jungle Room sessions and the Gospel version rather than the dreaded "uptempo" version.

And for those who pull the strings behind the curtains. This song is from the 1977 Moody Blue album.

I was going to add guitars and stuff, but after trying those vocals i feel a bit burned...

Takes a set to try and cover Elvis LOL. You have pulled this off my only criticism is I wish the vocal were just a tad higher in the mix Old ears and your vocal is great on this cover should stand out on the recording well done brother

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

You've made Elvis your own excellent cover I think it stands as it is as the vocal is powerful and fills the space

Covers of covers are not in the spirit of the fest so I'm not going to accept this entry as I don't want it to set a precedent for this and future fests. Our year-based covers fests should only contain songs that were originally released in the year.

The original 1962 release of "She Thinks I Still Care" by George Jones was a #1 country hit, so it was famous long before Elvis covered it.

Ah. I'm ok with this!

I guess it kinda makes artists like Elvis a bit "no go" as he hardly wrote any songs. Potential falce credits excluded :)

HI Zoltan,
Wow 1962!
I am not familiar with this lovely tune.
I like it a lot!
Very glad to hear this from you!!!
Very emotional and melodic gospel song.
Your vocals fits your version perfectly.
Well done.

Just to clarify the rules of the fest, it doesn't matter who wrote the song. The important thing is who first released a successful recording of it and that it was released in 1977.

For example, if the fest was for 1957 instead of 1977, you could do "All Shook Up", "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear", or "Jailhouse Rock". Elvis was the first artist to release successful recordings of those songs, even though he didn't write them. And they were all released in 1957.

But for 1977, I don't think Elvis released any recordings that weren't previously released by other artists. So his 1977 releases weren't the original releases of those songs and, therefore, wouldn't qualify for 1977 Fest.

I like it very much ...there is by moment on some phrase the intonation of Elvis :)

I find the piano accompaniment in struck chord all the first beats of measure a little poor then to try to add some elements, like a weissenborn guitar?
