Speed Demon

The first Les Paul I owned had those soapbar pickups and a hard bridge-tailpiece combo.
Nice guitar but it made more noise than world war 2. That was the reason I sold it. Impossible to get it perfectly at concert pitch, as well. More useful as a collector's item than it was for a working musician.

Old does not always mean better. I'll take a new hotrod any day.

Another point is: The sound we get is mostly produced by the amp being used, and its settings.
I consider the guitar as nothing more than a device to send the amp a signal for it to act upon.

I challenge anyone to determine what guitar a person used on a recording. Listen to any music and
see if you can determine what guitar is being played. They all sound the same to the ear.
Don't forget playing technique. It doesn't matter if you own a Lear jet if you don't know how to fly it.
