I got inspired big time on the weekend with all the great blues being posted, I thought I would take one of NYs folky songs and re-work it as an acoustic blues type of song.  "Star of Bethlehem" seemed to work out pretty good as an acoustic blues, so here it is.    As is typical with all the Neilfest posts,  this is pretty rough and quickly recorded, there is just no time to do anything these days.  All first take, recorded straight into the microBR, unplugged.  Here is "Star of Bethlehem" (Acoustic Blues version).

Bluesberry, I took another few weeks out of here and this is the first thing that I listened to as I logged back in. I feel like I just got hit in the face with a Mack Truck-sized pile of awesome. Excellent post, man. Really dig the guitar work on here.

Fantastic. It has a really great 'live' sound, and the guitar work is breathtaking. Great panning too. You really have got that acoustic soloing nailed. I have too many good things to say about this one!

Big time thanks everybody.  I wasn't too sure how this was going to sound as I was recording it, I recorded it so damn quickly over the last two nights.  I wanted it to sound like a few guys sitting around, maybe a front porch, sipping on some red ales or something, playing this lazy blues version of a lazy Neil Young folk song.  The original NY version had this feel to it as a folk song (very laid back/stoned vocal from Neil) and thats what I was trying to get in an acoustic blues version.  Laid back, few red ales, super hot summer day, front porch, dog sleeping at your feet, couple of guys with guitars, one guy pulls a slide out of his pocket, another guy in the corner with a harp, that was the image I had in my mind while laying this down as quick as I could.  It has made my day that you good folks liked it.
