Wrote this yesterday intending to go to a open mic... I am glad I got inspired to do it... but I did not go as it was over an hour drive and I decided to keep working on it for the next ones that get closer to home...
anyway...recorded on the Zoom R24 using a vocal/acoustic guitar stereo track.  1 add on acoustic guitar track.  A backing vocal stereo.  Harmonica key of c and in one small spot G.

I used the onboard mics on the Zoom... mixed on Bandlab, Audacity, and mastered on Landr

I ain't looking for nothing, I sure did find it. My heart is so cold, it's making me old.   I'm hoping for heaven living like hell.
I am hoping for heaven but living like hell.  My soul sure feels thirsty.  I've been in a desert.  I saw a well far off, it was just a mirage.  If this is all there is I can see why many give up.
Just then a dying man, reached out his hand to me and asked me to take it.  I obliged and his spirit unfolded.  With new life, I came alive.  As he died, with new life, I came alive.  I came alive.  I came alive.
Not trying to make it anywhere.  I sure did get there.  Just then a dying man, reached out his hand to me and asked me to hold it.  I obliged and his spirit unfolded, with new life I came alive.  As he died I came alive.  As he died, I came alive.

Loving that opening line ... I'm pleased you decided to stay home and work on the song it's a beauty

That's some heavy sh*t! I'm sure the open mic event would have gone well with a song like this. Old and young people crying, the biker looking dude passing out, lit lighters held in the air... While the wind blows and the sun shines.

There's a hint of Neil and a hint of Dylan, or some other "song and dance man" like him. The playing is handled well, and the storyteller -type of vocals are to the point. Gentle and singalongy. You're painting with broad strokes and this makes the small details to pop out even more (like the turn around guitar riff around the two minutes mark).

Hippy, heady and far out!

Definitely channeling your inner Neil young on this, and it's brilliant. You can write some great songs in all styles. The guitars sound great and the harmonica is perfect addition. But the real star is the lyrics and your vocals. The mics on the zoom sound great. I think this would be poplar at the open mic if you go.
Darren.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)

The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

Hi Stephen,
I would love to be in the front seats when you are singing this live.
Love the guitar and the harmonica, but really dig your vocals on this song.
You are an artist!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!

A lovely song, Stephen and brilliantly presented with those excellent vocals. Certainly a Neil Young vibe as people have already mentioned; the harmonica is a nice touch. Another example of your virtuosity in writing and great, profound lyrics too.

The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

I agree with the Neil Young vibe comments. You seem to have a natural ability, vocally and musically, to pull it off easily. I dig it all...great vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica!
