MATURE LANGUAGE WARNING

I asked Dan if sometime there would be something I could work with him on.  He sent me this incredible track of drums, bass, and a rough vocal.  He told me to have at it.  I did a mix where I play guitar and drums and added the new vocals.  We both liked it and it is posted in the comment section below.
He sent me a bunch of other tracks, 4 guitars, bass, drums, vocals.  THIS IS ALL DAN'S WORK!  I just produced it so to say.

I had a real blast playing with the vocals, kind of adding in backing vocals from what he had done, cut and paste in the daw.  I think it's a modern psychedelic enough for the fest but if not oh well.

The real kicker is the lyrics and vocals.  a great delivery of a very intense subject line.
We were brought up! But only by others kid's parents

At dinnertimes, and parties as a warning to you all.

We were that family! You know that family?

That was housed in the middle of a typical council street

There was always something happening, some sort of murders taking place

Amongst the years of flawed logic and the dysfunction we embraced.

Out there in the world full of conformists and the sheep

It didn't make you better it made you subservient and weak

You were safe and happy here as we rolled from week to week

From Giro to Giro just to make all our ends meet

I don't know why you're moaning you should be grateful for it all

We do it cos we love you even though it may seem cruel

Ner do well, Ner do well

Well now that day has come you should be proud to go and face it

With your anxiety and depression, I'm surprised you even made it

Your problems are your problems, the lovely doctor even named it

But we all felt the benefits when we sent those forms and claimed it.

We don't have to make a living we don't even lift our arses

Come find your pole position amongst the ranks of the underclass's

There's various positions for all the people you may need

The hero crowd is only for those that commit various misdeeds

There's a bloke we all call Robin Hood sells you hooky gear zilch up front

But when that day comes to pay, he's just a robbing shit cunt.

Ner do well, Ner do well

Ner do wells, Ner do wells everywhere I look it's like a fucking living hell

Some people here are screaming but crying a great catharsis

But most find that they get their relief among the dealers and their brasses

Ner do wells, Ner do wells what makes things a bit wonky is that sometimes you can't tell

But here they are amongst us all taking their chances

Criticising, studying, investigating and judging

Rationalising their own lives whilst they drain and fill their glasses

It wouldn't be so bad if from their gutter they'd look up

But all other life's not trusted dishonest and corrupt

Ner do well, Ner do well

So think of me and think of us as you wonder where we went

When your perfect life and morals twisted and went bent

It doesn't matter that you stayed and that you'll never go

You'll never change but that's ok it's all you people know

And when you think of me and all those that got free

You can always say he claims DLA and Christ he over eats

Look at the fucking state of him! He must be so unwell

But you can't understand, comprehend it's too much for a Ner do well

But thank you for your kind words and watching for our health

The time you spent on our lives would be better spent on yourselves

It's not your fault you live the dream it's the hand that you've been dealt

As you smoke your fag, drink your drink and snort your lines you Melts.

Ner do wells, Ner do wells

I need to add for those that might not know because i didn't "N'er Do Wells"  means never do wells... as in slackers, lazy, underachieving, troublemakers... probably there are better definitions but that is the idea.

Here is the version I originally mixed.  It has 1 clean rhythm guitar, 1 distorted, 1 lead, Dan's drums and mine, Dan's killer bass line, vocals.

I must admit that I have a bit of an infatuation with the UK.  My grandparents on my dad's side both migrated to Canada from England (seperately) at young ages.  So I have a good bit of the blood in me... my gram had that accent i adored.  My granp hardly said a word.
My sister loves watching english tv shows.... anyway, I enjoy learning about the culture, whether anyone likes to admit it or not the British Empire has affected every corner of the globe.

I enjoyed listening to this Dan and Stephen. The rapid fire lyrics are done well and they tell quite a story. There is some fine guitar work going on. A cool collab!

I love the beat of the song from the gig!
The guitar solo is very nice to the ear, very melodic!
Vocals is exquisite, and more importantly, the lyrics are well written, and sang very well.
You have done great improvement to the whole production, Stephen!!!

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

This sounds like a theme song for tv-series. Quirky and fun!
