COMME TOI tributes to child victims of war

The song "Comme toi" is one of Goldman's best known songs. It pays tribute to a little girl who was murdered by the Nazis, like thousands of others
In these terrible times, when war, with its atrocities, is on our doorstep in Europe, this song is unfortunately very topical
Jean Jacques Goldman is of Polish Jewish origin, and the idea for the song was inspired when he was looking at a family album of his mother who was born in Germany, and came across a photo of a little Jewish girl.

In the first few verses of the song, Jean Jacques Goldman describes this girl, highlighting her innocent features of childhood beauty to move the audience. Then he recounts the tragedy that happened to her without a beginning and an end in the structure of the song, but in an implicit way. Indeed, the violence of the events of the Shoah made little Sarah a victim, preventing her from living a life like any other child in the world.

I read the lyric translation and they are very moving indeed. Your performance is excellent. The story is so sad but sadly humans never learn and history keeps repeating. Beautiful rendition JP, but so sad.
