I can still hear the laughter
We were as drunk as we could be
Jenny and Phil falling over
As Dave peed behind a tree
New Year's Eve just a minute or two
Left of that old year
Looking back this old fool
Can't help but shed another tear.

Me I was a smoker then
Bad habits 24/7
Told my parents I'd be home
Before the stroke of eleven
Too many funny cigarettes
And way too many beers
Looking back this old fool
Can't help but shed another tear.

None of us with a damn clue
What trials life would bring
Sixteen and ready to take on the world
Knowing everything yet not a thing

My friend John throwing up at last
Ringing in the New Year
Looking back at that crazy night
Can't help but shed another tear.

I'd give every dollar that I ever made
To go back to that New Years Eve
Preserve it in amber for all time
And maybe, maybe, maybe never leave.

Hi Ray,
Great memories.
I had a few, and they are maybe at the same age as yours, but we can't go back.
We can reminisce and smile, but can't get there.
Nice guitar solos and beautiful lyrics.
Thanks for sharing.

Excellent look back on adolescents.
This is a great  recording with that ebb and flow which keeps the Interest throughout, great  work.

Such a lovely song! I really enjoy these kinds of nostalgic songs. Reminiscing, stories of coming of age etc. The playing is wonderful and the sound picture is both stylish and classy. The way you're using the rhythms and small melodies and details really add up. The vocal performance has that instant Ray Brookes magic that makes it believable.

Great work!

another great band from Australia had a song about Reminiscing.

forget that ...
this is totally pro stuff yet again... major awesomeness .... this is music from heaven!

Allmans, Toto, Christopher Cross, Little River Band, are just a few of the bands I get glimpses of here and you'd fit right in with any...

Ray, sounds like we experienced quite the same happenings back in the day. Fine song and man can you sing. Great lyrics and chord changes as well as those tasty mood contrasts and lead riffs! 8)
