This is a song by John Martyn
Martyn began his professional music career at the age of seventeen, playing a mixture of blues and folk in a unique style that brought him to prominence on the London scene in the mid 1960s.
I didn't know him, in fact I discovered him through the great cover on SC by Chunk
I've listened to the many cover versions of this song on YT, I especially like the Josh Turner version

In fact I wanted to learn this particular finguer picking with a percussion of the strings on the beats 2 and 4 (there are many tutorials of this picking that John Martyn liked on YT
...my version is inspired by Clapton's

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

A very fine performance, JP.

It's a very faithful cover, but you bring your own charm and personality to it. Beautiful!

Absolutely sublime cover! Your acoustic is so great sounding, the whole track has a vintage warmth to it like it would be on a lost 60s folk album. Excellent vocals on here too, it totally suits your voice. Tres, tres, TRES bien!
