Nearly forgot to post this one! (it's been a busy week at work)

I was 24 when I wrote it. What more can I say?

No-one To Blame
Words & Music AndyR
--------------------------------

When I was young there was romance
Now as I get old there is none
The tentative joys of my childhood
Now everyone knows how it's done
I'll take the blame for your breakage
I'll even replace the glass
But I won't pay the price
For what you did in the past
I'll try to be true to you baby
But I've got to be true to myself
If I don't want to stay when you ask me
There's no-one to blame but yourself

There's no-one to blame for the things that you've done
No-one to blame but you
But if I can't quite be an angel
I'd rather not be a fool

The days of spectacular feelings
Are gradually slipping away
The lure of an ear-biting climax
Is suddenly starting to pale
I haven't the heart for the small talk
After the jumping is done
I just lie here waiting for the rise of the sun
The pictures they're selling are useless
They've shown me my woman in red
The filth is all over the carpet
Why couldn't it stay on the bed

There's no-one to blame for the things you've done
No-one to blame but you
But if I can't quite be an angel
I'd rather not be a fool
If I can't quite be an angel
I'd rather not be a fool

These old songs you're pulling out of that shoebox, Andy are great. I've been trying to remember what songs I was writing at 24 (best forgotten TBH) As with other songs you've posted recently I'd like to hear this developed/arranged with full backing (not too much of course; just light accompaniment) Cool lyrics too, dude and love your vocal delivery.

This is cool! A#1 funky time. I agree with Ray, this would/will make a nice clean developed number. DLing now to play along with. Some fun! 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Greeny

Nice balance / contrast between power and fragility on the vocal, and that guitar work is gorgeous. I'd like to hear this filled out too, but it's fab as it is.

That's great songwriting for a 24 year old. I daren't even listen back to my old cassettes from that age. I don't even know whether they exist!

I was really into the rockin ness of this tuneage (it has a cubit butt ton or rockin in it!)...
then I read the lyrics as it was a bout half through...
I love the bare bones honesty of this (what i perceive it to be that is)....

would like to hear the full blown version too because I think it will be smokin

Great storyline and lyrics. There are several lines that are really memorable. Yet i'm not sure if i understood all the intricacies. In my mind some of the lines went towards W.A.S.P (Animal) territory, but in a more sophisticated manner ;) The vocals and playing are superb. They're able to sell the song.

The same high bar of songwriting and lyrics continues with this one. These certainly don't belong into the shoebox! If i'll ever start digging this deep for old songs / demos i think i should name them as "dirty socks demos" :D

Belting stuff, Andy.  Great performance of a fine song - and the LITLR status just adds to the quality.
