Hey, I'm back, happy 2022 everybody.   Got obsessed with flight simulators and other stuff and my musical thing got Paused.  But I'm back.

This one is in celebration of my oldest dearest friend falling deeply in love, and that feeling that two people make a whole country, as Gord Downie of the Tragically hip says, that kind of relationship is about "believing in the country of me and you". Also I learned today that those old straw covered bottles in the cheeseball Italian restaurants of my youth are called a Fiasco.  You used to get a fiasco of chianti, although these days most Chianti comes in normal bottles, and the stuff that does come in the straw ones isn't worth drinking.  Just like a murder of crows, a fiasco of chianti just sounds cool. The other fun word in here is bindlestiff, which is that old hobo thing of tying up your worldly goods in a red hanky on the end of a stick.  That's a bindlestiff.

Lyrics:

They say that that world has
Gone crazy.
They wanna know if you're
coming with.
Gotta get me a fiasco of chianti,
and pack me up my bindlestiff.

Thinks its high time
To leave this place
But I don't got nowhere else to go.
Give me something
That I can hold on to.
Best of all
Give me you.

I need that kind of love.
The kind you read about in books.
Tell me it's not a fairy tale.
Tell me it's all true.
Tell you believe
Like I believe in you.
The only country I need is us two.

This is lovely. Has your friend heard it? I am curious to the reaction.

Haunting. Great choice of tones.

My friend heard it, and he, and his girlfriend both liked it.  I bought a bottle of Chianti and had some of it at dinner tonight.  Not bad.

this is nice and it's an interesting mix... a mix that I like because it seems as if everything in the mix is important and no one thing stands out.  The voice is just part of the music.  It's not done often like this but I like it a bunch..

I once had a fiasco with Chianti. Turns out you're not supposed to buy cheap French wines (unless you're a wino and the taste doesn't matter). This doesn't have anything to do with this song. Just thought to share :D

This is a really wonderful song. The melodies have an air of reminiscing in to them. Everything is floating including the vocals. This really fits the lyrics.

You have this kind of Vangelis thing going on, which is a great thing for me. You have a lovely free form way of writing/delivering a song which is very cool. Great song.

Wonderful.

It sounds nothing like him, but I'm getting the same sort of emotional response I do to a Tom Waits recording.

   All that I need
Is just a piece of paper
To say a few lines
Make up my mind
So she can read it later
When I'm gone

Lots of atmosphere in this, and it works well with the song. And gotta love lyrics that have interesting words in them - I had heard of bindlestiffs associated with hobos before, but not fiasco in reference to Chianti.
