"Sicily" was composed in 1978 by Chick Corea. Several years later, the great Italian singer/guitarist Pino Daniele covered the song as a slow bossa and added some wonderful lyrics. By many points of view, my cover of "Sicily" has some elements of both the versions. In fact Chick himself in his last years played "Sicily" in a more relaxed, sentimental, sensual way.

Since I live in Sicily, I've thought to make a video with some photos I made here & there in these last years.

Technical stuff: Yamaha C180 classical guitar; Gibson SG standard; Boss SY-200 synth. Backing tracks: Band-in-a-Box 2022.

Headphones recommended...  ;)

Enjoy!  :)

Very smooth and loungy. The keyboard solo ended too soon.

I saw Chick Corea once, with Return to Forever (1983 probably). My most vivid memory of the concert is that there were a lot of folks in the audience who mostly wanted to hear fast runs. When a member of the group would do a fast run, the cigarette lighters would go up. When they would play something melodic and with feeling, the lighters would come down.

So, unfortunately, when I lost my interest in lightening-fast runs (Thank you, Punk), I left Chick Corea behind.

Thanks for this cover. It reminds me that I've overlooked a lot of Chick Corea music that isn't only about musical athleticism.

Wow, Alfredo!  This is really excellent.  Brilliantly played - and I loved the video too.

Very enjoyable.

Very smooth, Alfredo - and with some great tones. How do you like the SY-200? Looks like a nice piece of kit.

Lovely tribute to Chick Corea and Sicily.

Wow, that's some brilliant playing. Creamy guitar and a wonderful Rhodes solo, I don't know much Chick Corea outside of his work with Miles Davis but I certainly know he was a master of the Rhodes. I'd love to see Italy one day, the south around Sicily is the place I'd love to see most. Certainly a paradise on Earth...

Thanks everybody!  :)

Dear Joe,

SY-200;
PLUS: it is extremely compact and easy to use. The sounds are quite usable. No exaphonic Pick-up needed, a normal 1/4 jack from a normal electric guitar is what you need, nothing else.
MINUS: only MONO output; no PC/MAC user interface/software.

All in all, I'm absolutely happy with the SY-200 for the quality of the patches and since it's so easy to use.

Alfredo
