The other half been away all week in Spain visiting her brother so I took the opportunity to spend a bit more time playing guitar and less time doing house chores etc! :)

Decided to have a go at this tune by the Editors, a great band. Spent ages on the seemingly easy repetitive lead part that goes through most of the song. Ha, the trick is not to make a single mistake, unless you are happy to edit them out at the end. This being the Editors I though they would disapprove of editing/manipulating so I practiced all parts till I could do a passable version and use the entire takes. The only thing I did change was to lower the volume of the lead stuff in the chorus... the lads might let me off for that! :)

Here it is...

2 guitars, 1 main vocal, one backing vocal, drums and bass done in garageband

I don't know the Editors or this song but I know good music when I hear it. This is real good Mike! I hear how it would be easy to make a mistake on the lead guitar but it sounds like you nailed it in one go....nice!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Great version & quite true to the original.
You manage that deadpan vocal nicely too.
Kudos for doing it all with minimal editing, it's not a trick I manage that often.
Then again I'm a bass player, who gets by on 6 string, so it's probably not surprising. ;D
Another Garageband drums lover I see. Although I've migrated to recording in Presonus Studio One, I still currently use iPad Garageband for the drums & keyboards.

I loved the Smithereens Ron.... a guy who works with me on sound ran sound for them recently at a festival... he's a pro.
anyway.  Mike I am so glad you did this.  I don't know the song but I love your singing and guitar playing on this.  I knew right off it was a different style for you.  I listened to this before I read any comments.
Brilliant...
