Blimey... glad I found a way out of my music malaise. Since christmas I found it hard to do any new music. I think I was relief of another year over so just wanted to chill, but found it hard to unchill!

Anyway a new one... started out a pretty simple riff and built it up.

2 guitars slightly different rhythms... left and right - mexican strat
1 vocal
bass, drums and keys... garageband. Used a different kit than normal in this one, a softer sound... called blue ridge

Maybe That's Just Me

I've been waiting, for a long time
For this time to come again
I've been standing out in the shadows
Standing out in the rain

I've been thinking, thinking it over
About what it means to me
I've been playing, playing it over
Like some strange melody

And I'm thinking that the worst is over
And I'm thinking that the road is clear
But maybe that's just me

I've had bad times, I've had good times
And things I would rearrange
But you can't travel back in time
There's nothing you can change

There were times when, when I wondered
What it all meant to me
But the answer was right in front of my eyes
Yes it was clear to see

Chorus

And I've been to, many places
Some you wouldn't want to see,
And I've done things I wish I'd not done
That I would do differently

And I said things, that I didn't mean,
That I cannot take back
But I've tried to learn some lessons too
To get back on that track

Chorus

first off the mix is great!  The vocals sit just right too.  The drums are superb.  That bass though is the cream on top.  I am not sure why but the way you strike the guitar and the bass sound at the same time give me a electric piano feel.  That's cool.  Interesting progression.  This is like CCR and Bruce Springsteen got together and made a song.  This is distinctly Mike S but feels a bit different at the same time.  Great stuff.  Instant download.

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

What a full serving of meat and potatoes rock and roll. I hear the CCR/Boss strains, but I hear some John Mellencamp during the verses as well. Not to say that it's derivative. As you said, it's just you.

Super well performed with a cracker of a mix. As for the lyrics, get out of my head.

Very nice song! The progression is cool with a driving yet solid rhythm & bounce. The frosting is the smooth synth lead-melody. 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Absolutely love the songwriting here Mike. I love your down to earth vocals and the surging rhythms throughout. Lovely sequence of chords as well and the bits of synth that come in really add to the track. Your lyrics as always feel so integral and the introspection here is brilliant.

HUGE sound, Mike - very appealing and crystal clear mix. Well done!

Great songwriting, Mike. Cool production and those guitars sound superb. I like the drum feel too - that kick drum locked nicely in with the bass guitar drives the song along so well. Great stuff.
