Oh, precious child of mine
Oh, precious child of mine
Ignore the hard sell but watch who's doing the selling
Ignore cheap gossip but watch who's doing the telling
Be wary of those who bring hearsay and rumour
Be wary of those who laugh too quickly at your humour

Oh, precious child of mine
Oh, precious child of mine
Ignore the self-obsessed; without your attention they are redundant
Ignore the pretentious, pompous, conceited and repugnant
Be wary of the crocodile smile of the finger-jabbing preacher
Be wary of old lovers that are still too keen to reach ya

Oh, precious child of mine
Oh, precious child of mine
Ignore the violent, the vindictive and the vacant
The vain, the vague, the vapid and the vagrant
The tactless, the tasteless, the tardy and the tainted
The over-priced, over- paid, over-penitent and over- painted
Oh, precious children of mine

Some great lines in there Ray... just wish I had heard this about 30 years ago, might have saved me some grief :) But lovely stuff, loving that gentle jazzy/countryish middle section, that's how ya do it (chet atkins eat your heart out!). Was that a quick blast of vibraphone in there too?

Wise words Ray, wise words. Lovely production, a really lovely vibe and I particularly liked the keys on this one, they weave lovely melodies around the vocal. Very cleverly put together and another pro-level piece of work.

gorgeous song Ray.  Love the bass.  It's like the old stand up bass styles I love.  The lead guitar is so good and then the follow on key.  I am reading the lyrics and finally came to the conclusion that you pretty much just covered everyone!
lol.

that lead is getting on toward Mark Knopfler...yeah it's that good.

You seem to be in a folky/bluegrass mood as of late and it's no wonder since you do it so well. The lyrics are biting and witty, fitting greatly over the steady pulse of the music. The chorus line sounds so full with all those backing vocals. The guitar work as always is so damn slinky, you always know what to play to compliment the song.

Love the smooth riffage and vocals. This really good stuff Ray.

Another top song Ray. You do all styles so well but I love your jazzy,/ country styled songs.
Lyrics are always brilliant with great story to them. Excellent performance and production. Great vocals.
