My tribute to Thomas Mensforth - Mensi, front man of UK punk band Angelic Upstarts, who died age 66 in December 2021 from complications after Covid.

Music such as this was a huge influence on teenage me back in the late 70's and remains so to this day. You may have detected their influence in some of my other work. Mensi's death only a few weeks ago was a big shock.

This is DM-1 drums, GarageBand bass, two guitar tracks and three vocals.

Brilliant - really captures the sound of 70's punk ! I've been scouring the lists of musicians lost in 2021 for some inspiration but hadn't seen Mensi's name in any. Yet another piece of our youth gone.  :(

Fantastic cover though ! ODH is back !

I wasn't familiar with the band name Angelic Upstarts, but i've heard this song before. And you're doing that Oi! sound perfectly :) Cool playing and singing!

70's punk is way cool! Two thumbs up!

Edit: Seeing that you're from UK how did you like Shane Meadows This is England TV-series? (That is if you've seen it). I thought it was great. Couldn't get enough of it.

Great cover Nick, you really captured the essence of the Upstarts in this one. Had me (metaphorically ) leaping around.

well, I was actually leaping around... while doing the dishes.  Great stuff Nick...
I didn't listen to much punk but I am enough of a punk to recognize great rock and roll when i hear it and this is great rock and roll Nick that you played.  Played it great too.
Fun tribute...

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

Great post, I never rode on the punk wave, I think I was a little long in the tooth for all that pogoing. Having said that, I think If this is anything to go by I missed the chance to listen to some excellent music. Great post.

I remember this from 1st time round.  :)
Unfortunately never got to see The Angelic Upstarts, although I did see many others in the same vein.
Good Job. You've managed that same vibe as most of the punk bands of the time sounded in the studio. 8)

Great job. Sounds like a live band – and you've captured the sound of a recording from that era.
