I have an addiction... it's a dang recording machine.....I spent the better part of 2 days widdling around with this ridiculous guitar pattern....and recorded it about 50 times and the bass as well...and that was including all the delete project...start over....delete project.... start over... I think I have to put my recording deck away for the holidays....and the real problem is  I DON'T SEE A PROBLEM!!!

the song references some devices used for smoking cannabis... I haven't been but it fit the song well.....but I have this side of me that makes me shake my head...but the cool thing is I tend to get it out in songs...so I appear normal (not really I'm just making that part up) in real life...
but really I have this crazy side of me that I have defo been exploring...these lyrics took me all of 2 minutes to write and maybe 10 minutes to "sing" the
craziness....
more self entertainment...and I do laugh because it is that crazy...
recorded and mixed on the Zoom R24...just 1 guitar, bass, drums... and 3 "vocal" tracks... tried to include the metronome but it doesnt get on the tracks

I thought you were going to keep it quiet until the january? I'm glad you didn't! There's too much lame things going on all the time so it's better that wild things like these are let loose.
I was going to say: "Stephen, don't hold back!" but the answer is in the wind already. You didn't :D This is one of those "no one else could have done it" -type of tracks that's wild with imagination and a bit too weird for general consumption ;)

You seem to be going through a very creative period at the moment Stephen - maybe more time on your hands thanks to retirement? I enjoyed this - parts remind me of Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club.  Cool !

Funky metronome?  Leave it to you Steve to find a song in the the freaking metronome. Lol. This was captured my attention right from the start though. (I dread the tone of a metronome, opting sometimes to create a simple bass snare track to keep time that I replace later.). When I do use one I keep it low as possible.
Anyway, the twiddling paid off the guitar progression is good. Has a Talking Heads vibe to it. Keep writing while you can.

I'm really digging the drums on this one. I love the playing and I really like the way you recorded and mixed them, everything comes through really clearly and I love the way the bass drum cuts through. Very nicely done. And it's a great rhythm as well, I get the Tom Tom Club/Talking Heads references, the guitar and bass give that kind of feel. For only one guitar track you created a great sound here. And the vocal is you usual slightly unhinged but very creative self taking us on a trip that we didn't know we needed to go on...... But when we got there we really liked it!

Steve,  I  really think Zappa would've loved to work with you if he was still among us.  Also, you're a great example of someone who can take a lemon and make some great lemonade.

Stephen, after reading your song info. I wasn't expecting something this good...a very cool song! Great vocals, drums and all of it....definitely not the metronome's fault but let's blame it anyway, lol. I hate playing to a metronome so I usually do what Ron does and use a simple drum pattern and replace it later. This is a very creative song so keep feeding that addiction if this is what comes of it!

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

That's real dedication to your art lol. It's a good addiction to have though. I love this steve, a great light hearted song and proves you can write a good catchy song out of anything. Great music, guitars, drums, bass and vocals.
Merry Christmas.

I see what you mean... it's more fun to record/write something than it is not to! It keeps the brain sharp as well. I love the wacky groove here, loose but super tight. Your lyrics always crack me up...
