la mer is a 1946 song by Charles Trenet
The melody is inspired by Heart and Soul by Hoaghy Carmichael (a great composer of whom I have covered Rocking chair and Georgia on my mind)
but the resemblance is not really surprising and is not a plagiarism because it is in fact a harmonic sequence ultra used in popular music: I VIm IV V, as for example in C: C, Lam, F, G . Harmonic sequence often called "the progression of the 50's" there is an infinity of songs on this chord sequence: example "Blue Moon", for the Anglo Saxons, "Tous les garçons et les filles" for the French

I made a jazzy version with 2 nylon guitars, a bass and brush
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

This is so good! Tastefully performed and there's a nice swing to it all. The vocals are soft yet lively.
