I slept only a few hours and it turned me into a gospel singer!

FAMILY TREE (W/ Friends and Family)

I was a young boy from the boondocks
Trying to get my life and business straight
But with the help of family
I was knee deep in shit
Now i live in a tree house among friends

My father was a business man in Texas
He lived a life too good to be true
When they set him up for jail
He had already bailed

My step-mother was a teacher
What she did wasn't right by any book

The people just kept on piling
I had to move live under a rock
With every little thing i had i'd share
There must be a better way for a guy like me

One dark and stormy night there were lightning
A spark hit down the tree
The tree burned down to ground
No bodies were ever found
But i guess they're in a place they ought to be

* The chord progression is just the cliched blues thingie. The whole song is almost traditional in a way

Started out as a simple rock song, turned into a "gospel" and now it's closer to a soul / gospel hybrid... or something.

Edit: Update. The latest version of this "two day" wonder.

got me at the first piano chord and that resonant bass pulsing along.... really love your vocals too... don't know where you came up with the lyrics but they are quite interesting... I like creative out there kind of stuff...
I don't really do "genre" in music...to me there are just songs...but I get it because humans like to catalog stuff for public consumption...

I am very happy I get to hear your great songs Zoltan...

Great fun to read along to the lyrics. Zany and creative, it's cool to hear this sort of story to a soul song. Great vocals on here too, I love the pychedelic guitar solo near the end as well.
