Christmas Fest...

I did promise something more uplifting this post... last one got a bit heavy going even for me  ;D

A bit on the cheesy side maybe, but hey that is allowed at Christmas!

Anyway hope it doesn't sound too bad, struggled a bit with the bass as usual

2 rhythm guitars, slightly different parts, left and right
1 vocal
Bass and Drums thanks to Uncle GarageBand
1 synth Garage Band for a few bars in the middle
No guitar solo!

[Edit: re-uploaded 23 Dec.. rearranged slightly, taking out the last verse. So the small break in the middle is just followed by one more chorus then ends]

It's all over for another year
The work is done and it's time to settle down
With the ones that you love
Cause their the ones that you need

There were times that it wasn't so good
People treating people, not like they should
But it's time to put it all
Put it all behind you

Cause it's a
Good time to turn to the ones
That care
About you

And it feels good to
Build those bridges
And do all those things we used to do
Those things we used to do

You start thinking of the year ahead
Try to take it easy, easier instead
Cause you're not getting any younger
Well time sure does fly

You see your folks on Christmas day
You sit and talk and tell the same old jokes
But they're funny anyway
Some things well they just don't change

Chorus

Repeat 1st verse and chorus

ooooh...this has an excellent Chrissy Hynde (Pretenders) vibe to me...even in the singing style...love it Mike

the bass is especially good in here...and the way you always get the drums to sound and your rhythm style...love that keyboard too

me and the mrs. been fussing a bit over decorations... but I love her a ton and I love my family so much...got to play tennis with my son today...he's on school vaca... I tell em every day when I see them...and love them the best I can...because one day I won't be able to...

this song reminds me of all that...in isn't cheesy sir!

Yes there's certainly a Pretenders vibe to it, but there's no pretending. This is a seriously good song! The vocal sound is really ear pleasing and the lyrics are relatable.
There's nothing cheesy going on with this song. StephenM already took the cheese with his song :D

No guitar solo needed. I'd say play: please say no to unnecessary guitar solos! The playout section with synth sounds is more vibey and fits the groove better.

Oh well ........

Hook

I'm glad someone is writing fun, optimistic songs...cause it's never me. This is a fabulous Christmas song, could easily hear this on some modern Christmas compilation. Well done brother. I get the "Pretenders" comparison but add a jangly 22 string and it's it's Byrds tune.
Rock on

Because the Hook brings you back

Sleighbells would be cheesy. This has none. Actually feel this goes beyond Christmas music. A real nice power pop feel. I hear that pretenders jangle too. Vocals and lyrics are good too. You have a great rock and roll voice. Another fine job Mike.

Not cheesy at all Mike but if it was, that's accepted at Christmas time. I like the rock influenced Christmas songs that come out of the SC Fests. Great vox, words, guitars and the GB bass/drums/synth are right on the money. NO need to put in guitar solos if the song or mood doesn't call for it. Nice, uplifting song...just what I needed this morning.
