Broken Pen, Empty Page (Hook and Stephen M Colab)

quite a long while ago I sent Hook a music track wondering if he might humor me with some of his greatness.... I sent it without really knowing if he would like it or have time... but what I received back blew me out of my chair... honestly what he did with my meager offering made me realize this man is a songwriting, creating, singing genius.  I don't believe I am blowing any smoke here either..... Hook's vocals are astounding to me...soaring...and all the adds with the winds...
I can't even remember much about this some guitar, bass, alesis drums all recorded on the BR1600..
I am floored...

I try & take a second
To distance my thoughts from heart
To determine their truth
Yet incoherent rambling
& fragmented memories
Offer me no proof

It's as if I'm just a broken pen
Disposable,unable to write again
Scratching at the paper like a hen
Searching frantically for a quality phrase
An opening to a line in the verbal maze
A broken pen & an empty page

I try to formulate
A theme or creative direction
A concept to explore
But my plot is full of holes
Grammar in need of correction
I need an editor for sure


This conjunction junction
Has really fucked up my function
And stranded me inside an endless delay
& your quotation rotation
Has effected my motivation
And left me in creative Decay

An excellent collab. Stephen and Hook! The horns are so cool sounding! Stephen, you gave Hook a great backing track to build upon and wow did he! The vocals are cool and the lyrics are very poetic. The chorus section is top notch!

Thank you Stephen, for sending me this tune. Sorry it took so long but once I found the lyric it flowed nicely and was great fun. I added 3 vocal parts and the trumpet and trombone which are from the thimbjam app.
The lyrics are inspired by the name he had on the track " my pen is broken"   I love it when a track has a name for me to work off of but if does tale.me a while. I let that phrase float around my head for aver a.month before it became " Broken Pen" and even longer for the empty page?

Hook has such a character and immediately recognizable vocal delivery that he really takes the center stage in every song he takes part of. The playing is vibey and i like the brass instrumentation that's used to pepper the sound picture. There's also the magical touch of StephenM so all in all i'd say this is a match made in musical heaven!

Wow, stunning stuff guys. Love the way this is put together, the production is fantastic, I love the way it surrounds you in the stereo. A quite unique feel with fabulous lyrics and vocals from Hook. The brass additions work really well and the whole thing is very cool indeed. More like this please.
