Recently we had a mass shooting of 4 high school students in the nearby community of Oxford Michigan. I was literally holding my 4 month old grandson on my knee when word got to me. Words can hardly express, if at all, the sorrow and anger i felt. The absolute swing of emotion i had- the pure joy of nurturing an innocent baby and then the absolute horror of innocent kids being shot, just really jolted myself and our whole metro Detroit area. We are grieving.

All this gun stupidity in our country pisses me off. It always ends up a political stalemate-then it happens again. over and over. It's absolutely ridiculous. I don't pretend to have the answers. This is the world we must exist in. It shouldn't have to be like this. If this post offends anyone, frankly i don't care.  So at least lock up your f@#king guns so troubled kids cant get to them. oh and by the way, get your troubled kids the help they need. That would be a good start.

Paint A Picture For Me. Words and Music Ron Jones

A painting of peace.     of harmony

Happier space. Without so much anger

Ulterior motives and imminent danger.

I can paint a picture for you

About a Simpler time now so hard to do

You call me old for saying remember when
But Dismissing the past just means we'll do it again

Got a story for you with no happy ending,

It's ugly and violent leaves us sadden and mending

Let's be mindful, watch your daughters and sons

Check their backpacks and emails. and lock up your guns

Remember whens. Might be just an illusion
A safer place is not a dillusion
Evil has always existed
but good can prevail  in those who resist it

Insidious

And somewhat less crime.

So let's take what's best of these paintings

Easier photos , phones graphed to our faces.

Gas  guzzling land yachts severe discrimination

Hey I am not on a pulpit and preaching

Educators protecting when they could be teaching

Four souls lost in Oxford a community crying

A blind eye is turned in spite of our children dying

If I hadn't read your comments this is actually a beautiful song...the intro right out the gate is as lovely a piece of music I could ever hear!
There are so many incredible musical nuggets in here...swirling keyboards to that lovely guitar...got over really quick though..in fact I thought this was a bout 2 minutes but it's over 3...
great work here Mr. Ron!
It's a tough thing what is happening and yes...it will all be politicized...
I have found hope in my Alien friend!

Wonderful song, love all the music and of course the theme of it and lyrics are very touching. It must be terrible to have that happening.
Something needs to be done for sure.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)

Such a melodic and beautifully realized song. I appreciate that there's real weight and message to the lyrics. You're making great use of all these different musical elements and instrumental colours. There's tasty playing coupled with a more heavily effected (That almost "Zoom" -llike guitar effect) and it adds tension and contrast to the song. Great stuff!

A beautiful song for a terrible tragedy. I totally agree with your lyrical sentiment. You have a very good voice Ron and it shines on this song. An excellent mix and production!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.
