I always liked Brian Ferry, for his voice and his dandy elegance
..but I didn't know much about him
so I listened on YT to a lot of his songs to try to make a cover in the festival...and I stopped on Avalon, which maybe wrongly but made me think of Wonderful to Night of Clapton

Then I realized that Greeny had a proposal for the festival and his cover is beautiful

I tried to do something different instrumentally

I dedicate my version to Greeny and hope he likes it as much as I liked his version

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Nice cover, Jean Pierre. Lovely relaxed vibe and I love hearing your Gallic lilt.

this is beautiful JP... the drums sound great...the guitar work is amazing...and that kind of reverse effect there...
but the topper for me is your voice...it's very sweet and warm...inviting...
maybe your best work to date that I have heard...of course that is my subjective opinion

I love this JP - you've kept the feeling of the song but with your own interpretation of the music. It works really well and I thoroughly enjoyed your guitar playing.
For us "anglophones" the French accent is very appealing and singers like Charles Aznavour and Sacha Distel were very popular here with the ladies.

 ;D ;D ;D  j'adore les petites anglaises :)

In fact for the voice I used a Voxengo Voxformer plug ins (I think it's free...)
this plug ins gathers 1 equalizer, 2compressor, 1 gate, 1 de esser, 1 saturation and 1 "presence"...it seems to me quite nice

JP- this is the business. You have a knack for picking the right songs for yourself. This was a tough one to tackle. Your voice is so smooth. Nice warm sounding mix. Nice job

Funny that this one is of the few RM songs I don't like (much)...
...But now I like it! Merci beaucoup!

I find your singing is great without the pretensions of BF; Oh and the recording is great. Not talking about the effects, but singing close to the micro. Adds a lot of colour to the voice with richer low harmonics!
I also think the rough guitar sounds brings some grit to the song, that otherwise (the original) is too soft for my taste
I like how you expand the solo and play something of your own. And yes, that reverse guitar solo is amazing*

Last but not least.... errr how did you do that "sax" sound? Midi Guitar?

* you probably will like this song. It has one of the most beautiful "reverse guitar" I ever heard:

I didn't know Toni Rice! thanks for the discovery I consulted Wikipedia to know more.
I love this song "Some thing in the water" I will look at the translation of the lyrics to make sure they are not too cheesy (I don't understand spoken English", I need the text and often the translation!
but i love this song the guitars are beautiful and it doesn't seem too difficult to play... if the 5th confinement that is approaching allows my daughter to come and see us for the end of year parties, i think we will do this song...

A little technical note because after all it must be one of the interests of song crfets

If you use a daw (and in particular REAPER) and plug ins I recommend you this FX chains that I used for the voice

Rea Fir /Rea Ver/ JS exciter/ and especially Voxformer and L1 ultramaximiser from Waves this chain is more suitable for slow songs, country
[Not talking about the effects, but singing close to the mic. Adds a lot of color to the voice with richer low harmonics![/quote]....................You're kind but my effect system improves my rather ordinary voice considerably

here are two samples, one without voice effect, the other with voice effect

Ah oui, le saxophone est de Band in a Box...
