I'm listening to a lot of Buddy Holly right now on YT
Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran are my two historical roots of R n R addiction !

..and so I heard Lyle Lovett's version and the idea of using the mandolin really appealed to me and as I don't use this instrument much anymore, here we go !

So after That's be the day, here is

oooh...love the mandolin.  Sammy Hagar used an electric one on a hard rock song called "Bad Motor Scooter"..

lol.  Mandolin is a mainstay in North Carolina where blue grass is king.

my mandolin which is a low coast Harley benton (79 euros!), it is electric too and I could compare it with the mandolin that my son-in-law bought and which is much more expensive and ...to his regret mine is better!

JP:  thanks for that ... I am going to buy one of those because there are times we could use it hear in the band I am playing in.  There are certain songs that it would be useful... oh yeah....your vocals sound even better with each play...amazing really

Another great Buddy Holly cover! I love the inclusion of the mandolin here, really contributes a great drive to the song and it provides an excellent solo. Lovely vocals over top as well...
