So last Tuesday I made a song almost spontaneously called Bananarama pyjama drama. Then a couple of days ago I was looking through the Roxy Music playlist and I discovered they had a song called a Pyjamarama. And I thought I can't really let that go can I?  SoI set about to create a version of that song and then I thought oh shit that vocal is really tough I'm never going to do that but I carried on and this is what came out it didn't go too bad I don't think.

I did the guitar parts yesterday (all on the Tokai telecaster) after a really rubbish morning  and just kind of let's go with them.  apart from that there are GarageBand keyboards and bass and drums.  GarageBand doesn't have a decent saxophone so the sax part is an oboe.

Great cover Nick - excellent bass and guitars on this and love the attention to detail on some of the other parts. Nice vocal too ! The oboe fits nicely.. I know it's hard to simulate the sax parts.
It's obvious that Roxy Music mean a lot to you from the number of songs you've done for this fest and it's great to see you back doing full band recordings !
This song was on my shortlist too but i think I'd have struggled with the drum arrangement..got some others left so hopefully I'll get another done this week !

This sounds great Nick...and I admit I don't the Roxy much...just the few that were played on this side  of the pond...pity me!
but you and some of the others that have participated have enlightened me and not only that it shows another side of you.  The lead guitar work is especially great...and the vocals sound good to me too...

Great cover, not an easy song to take on but you've done a fine job.

Interesting your story. When you made the "Bananarama Pyjama Drama", I really thought it was a reference to Pyjamarama.

Great cover, great singing. The vocal melodic line is so challenging and you did it very well. I know the song for ages and I never noticed how wonderful is the guitar intro.

But more important than that. I really like this song and I was very happy to hear it being covered here.

Thank you Sir!

I'm not that smart. I wasn't aware of the song till a few days ago. When I heard it though those eight monumental strummed chords at the start hooked me right in. I figured the tuning is regular open tuning but detuned by a semitone, the song is in D#.  Great fun to play and all done in a day or so.

I nearly made a "pyjamarama" comment in my response to your Bananarama song, because I too thought there may be a link..... ;D

This is one of my all time favourite songs, let alone Roxy songs (and I bloomin love them all). I remember trying so hard to work the chords out when the single came out in 73 and being so pleased when I got a version of them (I played it in E). The guitar solo was beyond me back then though......

I love this version, especially the guitar work - the solo and the guitar sound is awesome. You got the spirit of the original nailed but there are some nice Nick twists in this. Absolutely love it!!!

Fantastic cover, Nick! Great attention to detail, especially considering you mentioned it wasn't a song you'd known previously. I discovered this song rather late in my exploration of Roxy Music's catalog - here in the USA (late 70s) it was available only on a greatest hits album, and that was hard to find! Always, always loved those opening chords.

I was struggling with some of the later guitar parts on this one and was getting nowhere with my own cover of it. Hats off to you for nailing it!

That's funny. What an innovative idea for the sax. I avoid using sax parts(even though I love the sax). Must try

Great tune terrific rendition of this song. One of my favorites in this fest.
