Every so often I get the urge to pretend that I can write blockbuster theme music and this is one attempt I finished a few minutes ago.  This was recorded using exclusively sample libraries from Spitfire Audio who make some wonderful samples.

I think this has come out reasonably well and I'm fairly pleased with it - admittedly in a pretentious sort of way!  The main difficulty I had with this is trying to keep the bass under control while not losing the impact.  And stopping myself from totally overdoing everything.  I think I ended up playing about 40 parts - very restrained of me....

No orchestral instruments were injured in the making of this piece.  Or guitars for that matter.

Humour me..

I've been listening a lot recently to the Harry Potter film score collection this piece would not be out of place, excellent,  really enjoyed the adventure through the cold house

Nothing pretentious at all. You've composed an intricate piece here. I aspire to do something like this. I have the spitfire free vst. But have really disciplined myself to composing on it yet.
I've looked how to set up templates in Reaper for spitfire, that's about as far I got.
This is incredibly good. Definitely soundtrack quality. Impressive

superb recording...again, very faints hints of my favorite band Kansas in the strings and the keys.... yes...this could be used as music for scenes on TV or movies and depending on where you are in the arrangement would determine the scene...I hear everything from joy to sinister to curiosity...
you are talented...very talented...it is easy to get lost in these projects isn't it?  Kind of like Alice in Wonderland...or the Wizard of Oz

This is something else.
It could be used for a period dram/detective series.
Ill live the change around the 250 mark with the trumpets coming in.
A masterpiece mate.
Well done.

This is wonderful. Absolutely pro-quality composition and arranging skills. There's a lovely playful period quality to it with a hint of mystery that makes me think of Maigret or Agatha Christie - 1920's sleuth stuff. Although it also fits the very contemporary 'Inside Number 9'. Would effortlessly grace any TV or movie drama though. Brilliant work!

Oh I love this !!

I've tried making some orchestral pieces myself so I can appreciate how much work and passion goes into making something like this. And wow did you succeed. This is a joyful and exciting piece that keeps the listeners attention and tells a story without words.

Wonderful stuff Paul

The prog guy in me want you to marry this to a vocal tune. Perhaps you can separate the section with Roman numerals for good measure. Next level composition. Bravo.
