It's a song of two halves. Part A is claustrophobic and a bit panicky. Part B is route 1 indie-rock.  The lyrics for the first half we're improvised in one take back in the summer when there was a heat wave (I can hear the sound of the fan in the background) in about July. The lyrics for part B have taken pretty much all the time since to get straight. Keys, drums and bass are all GB, guitars are off the Tele.

The story is one of trying and failing to "fix" a broken person.

Caution- May contain traces of kitchen sink...

Part A

I
Came to know
How
You feel
And I
I saw
Why
You were
Such a cow
Such a bitch
And I...
I know
You
Better

Part B

I went along
I took you on
Because your weakness was too strong
I carried on
And I was wrong
Oh but your weakness was too strong
I couldn't make you get along

I couldn't make
I couldn't make
You better

I couldn't make you better

This song is captivating. The way you've arranged the song into two sections makes the listener to really hang on and wait for what's to happen. The first half is like you said a bit panicky sounding and tense. The outburst that follows forms a great contrast to what was heard before. The lyrics are simple yet tell a vivid story. There's lots of personality to this song. I like it!

Wow. Totally awesome stuff Nick. The first part is really claustrophobic and tense, and the second part explodes in a rather unexpected and amazing way. Love the weirdness of the first part and the power of the second part. The guitars are superb, and I love the way you come back in with some of part 1 at the end.

I have been through a similar story myself, although the ending was probably better. Very compelling stuff.

Wow. That opening part is amazing all on it's own. Sounds like a dripping tap of menace. Then it opens up like Morrissey singing in the reverb of a disused swimming pool. That 2nd section is so fine. This is an excellent piece of work - interesting, experimental and surprising. Fab.

My 9yo girl came into the room when the first part was playing.

Girl: What's that scary music?

Me: What music?

Girl: That bip bip bip bip bip music!

Me: I don't hear any music. Are you okay?

Girl: Waaahhh!

Very unique and original song. That first part is quite scary..yes very tense ha!..the second part really the quite opposite, that rocks. Some awesome arrangement on this. It reminded me of something Radiohead would do. This wouldn't be out of place on OK COMPUTER.

Gonna have to go along with everyone on the positive feedback and especially Greeny with his cracking comments. Part one - you did warn us - was a bit panic inducing and you are not wrong. I have a tendency towards anxiety and this definitely triggered me... man that was heavy... but damn it was worth it. Brilliantly done, and part two was such a release of the tension... so cool.
