This is an early demo recording of Roxy Music trying to learn the song More Than This while Bryan Ferry was tied up as being a slave for love.
The guitar player was still going thru the motions while trying to find the chords. The bass player was more interested in picking his nose while missing some crucial beats in the process.
The drummer tried to sing the song, but being partially tone deaf and not overtly bright had trouble performing. The sessions didn't end well when Ferry stormed into the studio while wearing whips and chains. This is the only recording that survived. And as we all know the drummer was soon replaced by drum machines...

Still this is a part of (fictional) pop / rock music history so i thought to upload it :)

(There are two guitar scratch tracks + bassline. The short synth stabs were done with Cheeze Machine which is a free Vsti. The drums were programmed with Jamstix 4 + Ugritone).

Love this - it really does sound like a recording from a band rehearsal. The drummer seems to get into his flow with his singing as the song goes on ! Enjoyed this !

This is my favourite Roxy Music song. I like the direct approach here, it's probably how I would have approached it. Good stuff.

I really like the feel of this. Stripped back to its essence, may be an "early" version but it's a good one!

I like this stripped down version. Reminds me of a bar band. Very creative ending. The narrative you give is hilarious.

I love the rawness, which is completely different to the ultra-slick production on the original. And yet it's all completely true to the source material. It's bloody brilliant. Such an inspired idea, and beautifully executed.

Yes brilliant. Basic, stripped back, raw, but what the hell is wrong with that!? Nothing. Almost as if the Sex Pistols had a go at a Roxy Music song but gave Johnny Rotten the day off. Hey yeah maybe Sid filled in on vocals!? I loved the vocal by the way, in fact I loved the whole thing.
