RoxyMusicFest (banner image missing)

Admittedly, I wasn't a big Roxy Music fan when we voted for our last festival. I was only really familiar with Love is the Drug and  Avalon. Perhaps because i live in the states. So i immersed myself in RM for a couple days and gravitated toward this song. It about reached number 56 in the Billboard charts(for FWIW) for a week in the early 80's. Really digging their stuff now BTW-

Anyway, my apologies to the Roxy Music fans here, I took many liberties with song. Brian Ferry's voice is terrific and unique. It has sort of a delicate quality to it. I had to lower the verses an octave lower in order to wolf this one out.

These festivals can be a challenge to us. it helps us grow as musicians and songwriters

Love this song!
This is a good cover, too
I have a very similar listening history with them, but hear this one a ton on Sirius radio
Okay to cover.

This is nicely done! I like the changes you made and still kept the essence of the original in place. The vocals work nicely and there's really no need to be closer to the original. I listened to several cover versions of this song yesterday (as i was thinking of trying to do this ;)) and this stands high among the covers i've heard of this song. Even those done by so called "name artists" :) Good stuff!

I was also thinking on covering this one... Hmmm perhaps we should start a "More than this festival"

Nicely done and I really dig the laid back vocals.
Charming piano part. IMO it could have been much longer.

I would say covers shouldn't be "exact"...most of the time bands don't even cover their stuff the same after a while...probably get bored with them..
and i don't remember this song but man you sound fantastic on this...all of it...the guitar is absolutely stellar...and the backing track is pro...
vocals are great guitarron vocals.  Congratulations and I am glad you are back at it sir...you have too much talent to be silent.!!!

Lovely version which really captures the feel of the original. I really like the whole arrangement and the piano and guitar fills are great. Love the tone on that guitar during the last section ! Really nice vocal peformance too !

I love it... really good I like the voice an octave lower and especially the playing and sound of the lead guitar
Brian Ferry was a gentleman rocker, très populaire en france dans les années 70..
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I like you am not familiar with most of their music but can see how this song grabbed you. You have done a great production on this one everything in its place and with the lower register it sounds like your vocal is more relax
Well done brother

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Love the original and love your take on it. The Avalon album is one of my faves, but the tracks are so slick and complex that I don't have the nerve to go near them myself. So I admire your bravery first of all. There's some beautiful stuff and attention to detail going on here - all the elements are present but with enough difference to make it really fresh sounding. Fantastic guitar work, and you handle the (tricky!) vocal with tenderness and skill. It really sounds great!

Very nice job!  At first I didn't recognize the song, because you put a unique (and good) spin on it, but then I realized what it was.  I especially like the bass and drums on this, locking down a rock steady groove, and your vocals, and the lead guitar solo!
