Wow what a unique sound you've got here with this version. There's bits of the black metal idea in there, with the growl and the cold guitar sounds but also quite gothic and joy division like. Loved listening to the bass on this, it's going all over that fretboard!

QuoteI tried a lot with the bass. To add some distortion, to make it sound like a synth (octaver+fuzz+chorus), etc. only to come to the conclusion that the direct input sounds amazing. It is a Fender Jazz Bass. It worked before, it works now, it will work tomorrow.

I really like the bass line and the sound
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Great work and an amazing sound from the ukes! Love what you did with the vocals and the bass work is really good, I agree that direct in sounds fantastic. A really inventive treatment of the original, just what this fest is all about. Bravo.

Was sure I'd commented

Oh well

I dig it. This is really well done. Love the arrangement and the way you manage to make a ukulele so heavy.

Great vocals too

Love it

Thank you all for your gracious comments.

Funny how you mention Ian Curtis. Last month I was listening to Joy Division in the car and my kids thought it was me singing. Of course I told them "yeah, it is dad" to try to impress them.
To no avail.

Thank you very much Kari for writing such a splendid song and allowing me to cover it.

Last but not least, I kept thinking on StephenM comment. Kudos for this farmer that spent so much time removing stones in his field some 200 years ago (?), and how much people he fed afterwards, and how he is still feeding us all today, scattered across the world. Not our bellies but our souls.

Ohhh... nearly missed this. There is that really heavy air of menace. Disturbing but really captivating, and yes you can't help but think of Joy Division a little here. Great work.
