Short and Sweet just over 2 minutes.   Best played on a stereo system or headphones for maximum effect

I used play this song in several bands that i played originals in as young man. i did factory work then. I wrote it around 1978 but am just getting around to recording it (I lost track of the original work tapes). I had to recreate the verses because the the original lyrics have been lost, but these verses are close to the original vibe i was going for. It had 3 maybe 4 verses originally but i wanted to keep it short.
i opted for very little reverb use in favor of slapback delay.

I wanted to get something in for MimicFest. I feel this a rockabilly/cowpunk song. It reminded me of a Local group from years ago Goober and the Peas. i was inspired to redo this while listening the Cramps in my daughter Tayler's car on a recent visit.

Grease pit

Chorus...
Well the work a day world is not for me, I got to get myself
Out of the grease pit. Out of the grease pit. X2

Verse

Work hard almost everyday yah it's a dirty job
Dirty hands, greasy clothes, I'm a dirty greasy slob
Can't stay here all my life. Don't think that I could take it
I would really like quit, take a chance that I'd might make it

Chorus....

This Grimy, stinking, grubby plant, is dark and boring too
Feel like I'm fading away and getting burned out too

The bosses numbers sucks-his bonus just can't take
He's going to bust my ass-but Lord knows he won't break it

Chorus

Jean Pierre

Wow impressive what a sound recording and mixing

I would like to have some details about the studio construction of the song

(indeed listening with headphones is recommended)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Thanks JP
I doubled the electric guitar rhythm left and right. used only a touch of reverb on the piano-(sparse use of the piano this time) I used an acoustic guitar(with pick) for that clackety clack percussive sound

i did the old panning gimmick on the slide(reminds me of "Whole Lotta Love") and to create a call and response for the piano lead guitar
i used that vocal doubler plug you recommended from izotpe-(you cant beat free)

Brilliant tune. It may be short but it's sweet. I love the different styles in this too..guitars, pianos, and the sound is awesome. love that bluesy lead guitar.
Great lyrics too and catchy. i liked the stop ending.

Brilliant, Ron.  Get out of that grease pit- and quick!

Great lead gtr and vox going on here and the panning stuff just adds to it.
