So Stephen invited me to collab on a track he sent me. So I thought it sounded great and felt it had a bit of a dark edge to it, so I started looking at some old song titles I had jotted down ages ago and "Human Disease" seemed to jump out at me. Yep it's a pretty dark title and when I started writing the actual lyrics it just came out even darker! :) I think where I was coming from was that the human disease is where people often believe what is convenient for them rather than face painful truths, possibly in order to fit into society, etc... something like this?

Anyway not sure how to describe what we have come up with... maybe dark prog rock? But thanks steve for letting me in on this...

Steve on guitars, drums and bass
Me on lead twiddling about and vocals

Human Disease

You are guilty in the highest degree
You have your own truth and that's all you can see
You change the story till it says what you wanna say
Don't make a difference to you or your life anyway

It makes no difference
It makes no difference to you
It makes no difference
It makes no difference to you
It makes no difference
It makes no difference to you
It makes no difference
You've got the human disease
You've got the human disease
You've got the human disease

Live in the shadows and you hide from reality
Without a conscience, without your integrity
With everyone you know believing the lies
Your own existence then you start to despise

You've got the human
You've got the human disease
You've got the human
You've got the human disease

I didn't make it so easy for Mike because of the timing issues around 2 min...but I decided i wanted to see what happened anyway...
I have to admit that I likely would not have come up with this style except for listening to some of Godinqc's stuff...it's an intriguing style.
I really dig Mikes vocals, lyrics, and guitar on his songs so i figured why not ask and see....
it's a really cool track for me...

I actually used a Shecter bass on this but I had so much fuzz on it...sounds more like a guitar...
and I used the Les Paul on this with some of the patches from the BR...
mixed on the BR and Bandlab and mastered on LANDR

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Dark is right, sounds like a less dissonant, more gothic version of PiL. I love the guitar picking, the awesome solos and the lyrics are just what this track needed. Very cool how it breaks down for a second with all those flange effects at that 2 minute mark then comes right back in place. Inspiring stuff guys.

Full of dark and foreboding, I love it. The vocals fit really well with Steve's excellent music, I really like the guitar with the stereo effect on it. Great collab guys, loved this one.

Touch of the Cure? The human condition is a both the light and the dark. Excellent collab gents.

'It makes no difference to you' was exactly what I was thinking yesterday as billionaire Rishi Sunak delivered a budget hammering the poorest in society. This doesn't feel dark to me, just poignantly truthful. So many great things going on, but I especially dug the psych-sounding solo at about 1:30. Great playing and vocals all round though. And the overall sound is amazing - so much depth. Brilliant collab.
