Hi all, this weeks offering. A little bit more serious for me but I must say that any man that hits a woman is no longer a man in my eyes.     Willie

She put on the dress she was saving for best
And her mothers hat, now that she's gone
But she couldn't hide those eyes
That were blacker than night
And the sores on her lips
From the ring he had found

Well she looked around
Then she took out the gun
From the dresser that stood in the hall
The bullets were there
And she didn't care
If he never came home at all

There's been so much pain
He won't hit her again
She'd made up her mind this time
She'd loved him once
Must have been mad
How could love turn so bad

Instrumental

The first thing he knew
Was that she'd shot him through
His black heart
As he walked through the door
Then she walked down the street
And she sat on the seat
That the policeman had found in the store

it's a beautiful song about an awful subject... I was just watching a movie from the 90's last night very much about this subject called "Fried Green Tomatoes"....

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

You really dealt with the subject matter well for this song, the lyrics are very captivating here. The instrumental breaks add a lot too and the return back with last verse is brilliant in a sad way. True words Willie, great track.

Groundy

So well written and so well played. I too agree with your feelings.
Nice one Willie..... Alex

This is a great song Willie, about an important subject.  A family member sometimes has to chair Domestic Homicide Reviews, and though the details are never discussed, I know it is often harrowing stuff. Harrowing to listen too, let alone experience personally.

Too true. And a very poignant and jangly piece of story-telling conveys the message beautifully. Great work!
