I even like the click of the jack plug (or whatever it was) at the end.  A hint of a door closing, or am I reading too much into it?

Paul

Yes Paul...I decided to leave it because that's absolutely what the sound reminded me of...thanks for listening and commenting... and to all who have

The two vocals going on is a very cool effect, especially with the headphones. The sort of riff is quite catchy and that chorus really soars. Absolute joy coming from the speakers...

I love the contrast between acoustic and electric guitar, it sounds really good! Fine songwriting and performance, Stephen!

Loving the vocals on this one, they combine really well with the guitars. And it's an incredibly infectious melody, really catchy. Nice back story, the lyrics really reflect that flush of youth and some of the parties I used to go to when I was young. Great work, very nicely produced as well.

Zoltan

This is such a personal and sweet song / memory... And a good song to boot!

I've listened to this a few times over the last few days before commenting. I really love this song - to me it's pure Americana ! I hadn't heard of Matthew Sweet but after listening to a few of his songs, I get what you're trying to achieve. As a few have said there's also that Neil Young influence but I'm also picking up some REM vibes. I love the guitar tones - just up my street !
"Making Out" is not a term we use in the UK so I'm always puzzled as to what exactly it means... how far is it going ?  ;)

Great song !

Thanks for all the comments....to answer Pete's question...making out is heavy kissing...maybe alot of kissing...tongue exchange etc...
I don't think it's used anymore...now it's much different, it's hooking up and it's much more...

I've been playing this live sometimes at open mics.  I had to strip it down a little but overall the song works that way.... I was playing in Long Lake and the hotel was packed.  The audience was literally within 3 feet of me.  It was so intimate.... after I got to the chorus the 3rd time there were many people singing along the chorus... that told me, this was that hook chorus people talk about...kind of cool... sorry about the self bump but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do...
