Back in the day, Brian Wilson with a gang of his buddies called The Beach Boys and some guys nobody even new about called The Wrecking Crew created a bunch of records featuring a wall of sound that was instantly recognizable.  One would have to be a little crazy to try to write and produce a recording that might mimic that style.  However, having easily qualified for the former, I thought I'd try the later...  ::)

Thanks for listening.

California Summer Night
The wind is low and the stars are bright
Why don't we fly away again tonight?
Campfires on the beach are burnin'
Music playing while the tide keeps churnin'
Then you make everything alright...
On this California Summer night

A painted ocean like the watercolor blue
Footprints in the sand that follow me and you
People dancing while the palm trees sway
Watching tiny ships that sail away
Until they sail clear out of sight...
On this California Summer night

But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Wonderful work, you nailed it! This is a track that Brian would approve of big time. I think you got the whole vibe and atmosphere down to a tee and not only that you wrote a lovely little tune at the same time.

You really channelled Brian Wilson. I've always loved the tone of your voice Ken. Very well written, recorded and produced.
I'll be revisiting this one for sure

I heard this in the car without knowing who it was or the mimic....for me the oohs and aahs really nail the mimic...I love the lead vocals but it reminds me of Steve Miller who I adore and still listen to alot..
Excellent stuff

Beautiful song, hooper - it sounds like a great lost Beach Boys track from the early Seventies.

I love your BB harmonies and the 12 string solo, which sounds like Jim McGuinn sitting in on one of their sessions!

Loved it!

Funny because, The Wrecking Crew provided a common link between The Byrds and The Beach boys.  And this song borrows the 'vamping rhythm guitar' that was on the BB's Don't Worry Baby and The Byrds also used on Mr. Tamborine Man.  Also wanted to mention Joe, the vocal on this song uses the generic ADT plugin that you put me onto a few years ago. So, thanks!
