Nick this is a wonderful composition you have created here. It's a subject sadly all too familiar to many of us. In my small estate there has been 2 - possibly 3 -  suicides in the ten years we lived here. But back to the song. It's really well constructed, beautiful melody carried by the keys, but also a nod to that really heavily distorted guitar that appears a couple of times. It's a great dark counterpoint to that glorious vocal and piano.

Very touching subject I did two combat tours and most us had a death letter in our belongs written to love ones in case you did not come back so the first line of your song really hit me. They say good songs either make you happy or strike a emotional chord
