Oh yes, this is a great song.  I think I missed the original, and so am very glad to have a chance to be introduced to it here.  Both the original version and this one are great.  Very high production standards on both!   The vocal sits just perfectly in the mix, so the instruments and vocal both get exactly the right attention, a thing of beauty!   The guitar kicking in after the quiet part is awesome!

Wow, this is gonna be an instant Songcrafter's favorite for me!  It gets right down to business with the siren morphing into the synth part and the interplay of the jangly drone of 12-string and the synth works so well. I especially like the way things ramp up again coming out of the middle interlude. Went back and listened to the original and it certainly started out well-written and performed. An epic story line worked into a compelling lyric. And Tim's production picks up on the ambiance and the feel and then paints it again with a bit more excitement and clarity. Love it! A really, really fine job on this one. Must make Nigel feel great today!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Well, that comes as a direct influence of the siren you put on Jemima's Kite 'Man on Fire'  ;D

And I've wanted the 12 string electric since I heard yours!
