Taking another go at another of my oldies. Was actually working on the newest version, new meaning  2014 / 2015. Trying to make sort of a piano version and noticed the drums really sucked, so I dropped them. Got a little frustrated that Billy Joel and Elton can create such cool song on piano and I... well you know.... But I'm working on it.  >:(
In the mean time I opened up the old files for this version and added some things, took away some

Turn Around
My good friend stopped by today Said his life has gone astray
And there're a million places he'd rather be then home
She used to see the best in me attitude now testing me
cause everything I do just seems to be wrong
From the way I chew my food to the way I tie my boots
And the way I cut that grass ain't never right
As he recounted all their fights and the loneliness at night
I just stopped him and said brother turn around

Now turn around here and wipe away all your tears
and remember the good times that you had
And though I'm not into giving advice here's a piece I'll share tonight
Sometime to move ahead you got to turn around

Well the wife of my good friend called me up about quarter til 10
I said I don't know where he is if he ain't home
She said lately we just fuss and fight, until I finally asked him why
Everything I say and do is wrong
From the way I cook the food to the length of the honey do
And the way I clean this house ain't never right
As she recounted all their fights and her loneliness at night
I just stop her and said darlin turn around

Now turn around here and wipe away all your tears
and remember the good times that you had
And though I'm not into giving advice, here's a piece I'll share tonight
Sometime to move ahead you got to turn around

Not so long ago I was out on the road and we just had another big ole fight
Man oh man I hate my life hardly recognize my wife
So I'd take this young filly for a ride
Her kiss was so soft and sweet reminds me how we used to be
And I felt my heart breaking up inside
As I recounted all our fights and my loneliness tonight
My phone ring and she said daddy turn around

Now turn around here and wipe away all your tears
and remember the good times the you we had
And though I'm not into giving advice here's a piece I'll share tonight
Sometime to move ahead you got to turn around.

Hey this is a great one! There's a cool vibe to it. It made me think of several 60-70's era songwriters and also the song My Friend (by Jimi Hendrix). The lyrics are filled with great oneliners and i really like the vocal delivery. The organ playing also adds a nice 60s vibe to it. Some of the guitar tracks sound a bit "metallic" for a song like this, but cool anyway!

I just realised how much I've missed your voice !!

Absolutely brilliant and I'll repeat what I said last time around as it's still applicable:

Quote from: Geir on August 19, 2015, 02:19:43 AMThis is so good that it hurts !!!

I hope you realise what a gem of a song  you've made here. The storytelling, the music, the performance ... it all works so well together ! PERFECT !!!

I'm a fan !!!

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

I recall that in one of your posts you kind of didn't really like your vocals much...actually this is excellent...in fact if you go back and listen to old Steve Miller, stuff like "Your Cash Ain't Nothin But Trash"....i think you would have to admit there are some uncanny similiarites...in your lower growly voice not as much...but your vocals are very very fine...
theres lots of different singing styles...
the music is good too...and i really like the lyrical theme..cool stuff... towards the end you sound a bit like Tom Petty...hey...you got it man

Dude! You need to drop by more often brother, this is excellent. I was listening yesterday while cleaning my house and this is just a brilliant jam. Love the Hook (if you will) and the outro dual solos. Your vocal  delivery knocks me on my ass and makes me listen, love it.
Rock on!

Oh yeah what a great cool song! Brilliant musicianship and love those bass lines; everything tight and tasteful.

Man that vocal is so good, so much character. Deservedly in the spotlight in those cool verses. I totally love this tune. Some fantastic lyrics too... I can relate to a few of those... haha.
