Well I know Dusty didn't sing this one, but ZZ Top played this song live the 1st time I saw them in 1977. I was right up front (Gen Admit days) and what a show it was that I will never forget. I've been to see them at least 15 times or more since then and it was always a Power House Party with plenty of energy left over for days.

I have heard many stories about this song of how the same old so-called upstanding moral societies that are practicing vile forms of corruption behind the backs of law-abiding citizens, that is quite unethical, considers it "politically incorrect". Look at a billion other songs from any era and how those songs are protested because of sexual and drug undertones and even mixed heritages.

So I wonder if this is why ZZ Top never played this song after the 70's/early 80's, from what I've heard anyway. Ya know, it's a just a song and a frikkin' great riff. The Stones put it the best way said... "It's only Rock-n-Roll, but I like it". If this song were released today, would it cause an uproar and be played on the radio? Sorry for the rant. Hope you enjoy.

I was thinking about that the.other day while listening to Michelle Shockeds Arkansas Traveler, there are some deep southern blues that made me a little uncomfortable...all e.in my car. Kind of a shame.

I love this song....Fandango was my first zz 8 track...I loved this and Nasty Dogs...I think though they never played it because they had so many great songs...you did a bang up job here...
I noticed though...your vocals sound a bit like Kenny Macs, at least some of his stuff...slide and harp rock it

I never really look too deep into lyrics, they are basically telling a mini story.
If you stop and analyse a lot of the older songs the lyric meaning suprises you.
The Hank Marvin  love sick blues is a prime example of this.
Never thought about them until I was teading them for the country fest.
To me its just songs.
Its great to work with and hear mach again hes  a talented  player.
Thanks for asking me mate appreciate it.

ha...Kenny sent me a message the other day... I see I clearly missed the note at the bottom of the original post that states KM singing...duh...well, at least I can recognize his voice...lol
you picked out a cool song to do Mach...I never forgot this song but I have not heard it in a good while either... I love to play "Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings"...here's a link to a crazy cover I did of it... I got a bit bombed one night and recorded that...
I can actually play it kind of right but I decided to go in a crazy direction with it.

I remember being at a Gov't Mule show when they went into "Good Morning, Little School Girl." I had an on-the-spot revelation, and it was not good. Some lyrics...just yikes.

Greta job with this. I was grooving on the whole tune, especially how the slide guitar doesn't sound like torturing a cat (like when I try), but that harp solo just elevated it. Very nice.
