Be Late (Feat. Terry Wigmore & Keith Allen)

This is a song i wrote a couple of years ago. I sent it to a musician friend i know in Canada called "Terry Wigmore", who provided the vocals.
Keith (Allen) also added some bass to the track.

Terry mixed the track but i may do another mix myself sometime, but i thought i'd share it for now.
The song's about the obsession of people rushing around too much, worrying about things instead of trying to chill out more.
Thanks for listening.

BE LATE

It's better to be late in this world, than be early in the next,
You've got to take your time, you've got to slow down,
You've got to take your breath

Everybody's talking at the same time,
I can't hear what they're saying,
Everybody's rushing around, they've got to slow down

It's ok to be late,
it's ok to be late , be late
No one wants to be late, be late,

It's better to be safe in this world, than be sorry in the next
You've got to relax, don't worry about time
It'll get you in the end

Everybody's moving at the same time,
They can't see where they're going
Everybody's rushing around, they've got to slow down
Slow right down

It's ok to be late, be late,
It's ok to be late, be late
No one wants to be late, be late,

Time goes by so slowly, Time goes by so fast
Don't let time hold you back

(Don't be late) I got so much i wanna do
(Don't be late) 'aint got time to tie my shoes
(Don't be late) got no time too stop and stare
(Don't be late) at all those ladies over there
(Don't be late) got no time
(Don't be late) i don't wanna be late
(Don't be late) i don't wanna be late

love that first line and then that really quick delivery on the second...the vocals I really like on this...neat to hear different singers you work with Darren
the keyboards remind me a bit of that song by Til Tuesday called "Voices Carry"... really great sounds on the keys.
the mix could always be different...whether better or not is somewhat subjective... I hear everything quite well on this...the bass is just right... I suppose some would like the vox a touch louder but for me they are fine...
rocks a ton...
really like the lyrics a ton on this

Great song, Darren and Terry did a great job on the vocals and he also did a fine job mixing. Excellent bass work from Keith and cool lyrics.

Good collab!
Kind of has a Cars/ Greg Kihn "Roadrunner" vibe. Very cool!

I figured out who this really reminds me of...it's Paul Kantner.... he was a more obscure but highly relevant member of both the Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship.  I spent alot of time digging into this band in the 80's and 90's and more recently going back again... Paul wrote many songs for the band and his rhythm guitar style and lyrics and vocals gave them a very unique side...granted alot of his stuff wasn't the big hit radio stuff more like the b side album stuff...but for me, alot of times those are the best songs...
This is a great song right here...
what I am seeing from you now Darren is you have a wide range of music taste...and thats good with me...because what I know for sure is your tracks are always great but never quite know what is coming...

it's a BELTER... or is a Beamer?

Thanks steve. You have such a great knowledge of music artists. I haven't listened to much Jefferson Airplane, but I do like most types of music and will have a go at anything. Usually with the help of some other musicians, that seems to work. If I could sing better I'd sing my own songs, but I know someone else can do it better etc. Lol.

I've been listening to this song and i thought i had already commented! In anycase this is a good one. There's a great spirit to this one and i especially like the whole theme of the song. Sometimes i have to remind myself to put the brakes on... to take it easy... To be late :)
